THE SHAMEEN RIOTS
In reply to a question by Mr. Martin Lind- say in the House of Commons yesterday, Mr. MCNEIL, Minister of State, said that compen- sation was being claimed for all British pro- perty destroyed in the recent anti-British demonstration in Shameen, Canton, and the Government were demanding a public inquiry by the Chinese Government into the attack on the British Consulate-General, and the punish- ment of all persons found responsible.
